RESEARCH
Mapping home environments and family dynamics
To gain a deep understanding of the challenges and preferences of modern families in managing their home environments, we analyzed various family needs, lifestyle habits, and comfort with technology to identify key pain points and opportunities for improvement. Additionally, we examined existing smart home solutions, noting their strengths and limitations. This research informed our approach to designing an intuitive and accessible platform that caters to diverse family needs while ensuring ease of use and maximum flexibility. The insights gained during this phase were crucial in shaping the app's core features and user experience.
IDEATION
Enhance convenience, security and comfort
During the ideation phase, we focused on understanding the diverse needs of modern families and their unique home environments. Through brainstorming sessions, user research, and collaborative design workshops, we explored a wide range of features aimed at enhancing convenience, security, and comfort. Our goal was to create a personalized home automation experience that was intuitive, accessible, and adaptable for every family member. By considering various use cases and family dynamics, we conceptualized innovative features that would enable easy customization, seamless interactions, and a user-friendly interface. This phase laid the foundation for a smart home platform that blends technology and design to transform the way families live and interact with their spaces.

Interconnected yet personalised
Each household member can personalize their environment, creating atmospheres tailored to their preferences. With seamlessly interconnected devices, everyone can effortlessly set their own moods and craft unique experiences.
Test, iterate and refine
Ongoing testing and refinement of the device controls enabled us to deliver an app that caters to all age groups within a family, ensuring broad appeal and usability.
Hierarchical access control
The super admin could provide any type of access to anyone in the household, allowing each user's access to be supervised and managed.
EXECUTION
A smart and secure UI UX home experience
We designed the app to grant exclusive control and access to all household members. The super admin can monitor security, create personalised room atmospheres, and easily review energy consumption. Each device control was prototyped to optimise button size and affordance. Interactions were designed to mirror real-world experiences, while A/B testing ensured readability and visibility, even in low-light conditions. The final outcome was an exclusive smart home experience that seamlessly leveraged technology and user experience.
